Como divulgar a ciência no Brasil e apresentar à população de forma lúdica e didática os estudos e as descobertas acadêmicas? Essa era a preocupação do doutor em Biologia Animal pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo e pesquisador da Unicamp, Raoni Rebouças que, em 2020, desenvolveu o projeto ‘Papo de Sapo’. A ideia foi transformar pesquisas sobre anfíbios em animações musicais com o objetivo de transmitir, principalmente às crianças, os conhecimentos e o gosto pela biologia.

O trabalho, que começou apenas com Raoni, hoje conta com cinco voluntários que atuam na composição das músicas, criação das animações e edição dos vídeos, além de mais de 20 colaboradores de vários estados do Brasil e até de outros países.

Em dois anos o ‘Papo de Sapo’ abordou 20 espécies entre pererecas, sapos e rãs. “Já falamos sobre a perereca-araponga (Boana albomarginata) e o efeito de gigantismo que elas têm em ilhas; perereca-macaco (Pithecopus gonzagai) descrita em homenagem ao Luiz Gonzaga; sapinho-admirável-de-barriga-vermelha (Melanophryniscus admirabilis) ameaçado no Rio Grande do Sul; sapinho pingo-de-ouro (Brachycephalus rotenbergae) que é fluorescente e não ouve o próprio canto; sobre o fungo quitrídeo (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis) que está dizimando os anfíbios em todo o mundo; sobre as rãs do cerrado, Physalaemus cuvieri e Physalaemus nattereri, que apesar de serem bem parecidas, têm tolerâncias ao calor bastante diferentes; e sobre as espécies coloridas da Amazônia”, destaca.

O processo de produção dos vídeos é trabalhoso: algumas animações curtas e com poucos personagens são finalizadas em algumas horas, mas outras, com mais elementos e cenários, demandam meses de trabalho. “Primeiro definimos o tema e compomos a música. A letra é revisada por uma colaboradora especialista em psicologia infantil, para adequação da linguagem. Depois nós gravamos, definimos o roteiro e o esboço das cenas, fazemos a montagem dos personagens e, por último, a animação”, explica.

Para Raoni, realizar esse trabalho é gratificante. “Estamos bem satisfeitos com a receptividade do público, a aceitação é total e com frequência recebermos vídeos das crianças cantando nossas músicas”, completa o pesquisador, que tem planos para o futuro do projeto. “Queremos servir como uma via de bolsas de fomento à pesquisa, ajudando a formar novos pesquisadores e movendo a engrenagem científica brasileira”.
